WhenBorderlands 3was officially announced, Gearbox dubbed 2019 the year ofBorderlands. This seems to be the case, especially consideringBorderlands 2andThe Pre-Sequelrecently hit peak numbers on Steam. And with the release of a remastered version of the originalBorderlands, many are playing through the games again in preparation for the threequel.

For those who are not currently playing throughBorderlands Remastered, though, Gearbox has released a “Story So Far…” trailer that recaps the events of the first game. Before moving forward, this trailer only briefly touches onBorderlands 2and ignoresThe Pre-Sequelaltogether, as it seems like that this could be the first trailer in a series, seemingly prepping the way to the official release ofBorderlands 3.

With an all too familiar voice-over by Marcus Kincaid, this newBorderlandstrailer walks through the bosses of the first game, the original Vault Hunters, and how Commandant Steele and the Atlas Corporation would seize the Vault Key. And in the words of Kincaid, “this was a bad idea.” It doesn’t touch on most of the DLC for the original game, but it does show the Secret Armory of General Knoxx being blown up to the satisfaction of Athena.

Its focus then shifts on to the evil mechanizations of the beloved antagonist, Handsome Jack, before giving players a “To Be Continued” screen. Seemingly, the next trailer would showcase the events ofThe Pre-Sequel, if notBorderlands 2, which would eventually bring players to the doorsteps of the forthcomingBorderlands 3. With any luck, these “Story So Far” trailers will reveal even moreBorderlands 3secrets, as more and more are slowly being discovered.

Secrets aside, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford recently commented onthe endgame ofBorderlands 3, promising that it would encapsulate everything of previous games “but more.” These trailers, the gameplay coming on May 1, and the hints from the higher-ups may very well go a long way in building the hype train forBorderlands 3.

Borderlands 3will launch on September 13 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One
