Steven Spielberg’sJawswill be aired on NBC to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The iconic movie was released in theaters on June 19, 2025, after having run into numerous complications and issues during production. Widely considered the first blockbuster, the movie grossed $260.7 million at the box office and pioneered the summer blockbuster marketing model. Starring Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss, and Lorraine Gary in the lead roles, the movie became a cultural touchstone for its enduring influence.
According toVariety, a new introduction from Spielberg tothe 1975 film will be screening on NBC for over three hours on June 20 at 8 p.m. ETto celebrate the movie turning 50. The network has also prepared in-stadium-themed home games with Major League Baseball. From June 20 to 22, San Francisco Giants, New York Yankees, and Philadelphia Phillies games will feature custom scoreboard content, exclusive fan giveaways, and many more.

The platform is also rolling out a special collection titled “Trouble in the Water” from June 15, featuringJawsand related movies, includingPiranha,47 Meters Down,Night Swim, and many more.
Meanwhile, Universal Pictures is celebrating the occasion by releasing a digital 50th anniversary edition on June 17, with a combo pack including 4K, Blu-ray, and digital available as well as Laurent Bouzereau’s documentaryJaws @ 50: The Definitive Story.The movie is alsoreturning to the big screen from August 29 to September 4, with approximately 450 theaters participating.

Jawsis back this summer to terrorize a whole new generation, not only on the big screen, but also on the small screen. Those who like to watch movies on their phones or TV will be delighted to find curated shark collections to celebrate the movie’s legacy. Baseball game lovers andJawsenthusiasts will be able to combine both passions this summer. The 50th anniversary is no doubt very large in scale.
