Something that PC fans have been waiting for ever since the game was first announced all the way back in 2012,Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlordis finally hitting our screens once again in the form of an all-new gameplay trailer. After starting off the presentation withexciting DLC for XCOM 2, PC Gamer took viewers on a trip back in time, to show off some medieval combat.
At the PC Gaming Show, taking place atE3 2017, developer TaleWorlds Entertainment unveiled a trailer for its upcoming medieval RPG prequel, showing off some of the series' beloved combat system. InMount & Blade 2: Bannerlord, players will be once again be able to take control of a single soldier on the battlefield and get well and truly submerged in the fight.
It seems that TaleWorlds has opted to keep the core combat similar to that in the originalMount and Bladegames, albeit with vastly upgraded graphics. In the trailer, we get a look at both ranged and melee combat as the player controls various soldiers across a handful of battlefields.
Using a horse seems to be as useful as ever, giving the player more maneuverability in combat, as well as making themselves harder to take down. Of course, the option to dismount is also present, should gamers prefer to get stuck deeper into the fight.
For those who haven’t played earlier games in the series,Mount & Blademay have a similar combat style toChivalryand the recentFor Honor, but the core gameplay itself is far different. Players can travel the glove, completing requests and gathering armies for their own personal gain, or to win favor for those they serve.
A new sergeant system has been added to the game’s updated AI which allows units, including the player, to be designated tasks on the battlefield. The behavior of the NPC tacticians is drawn from actual historic military commanders, including Alexander the Great, in an effort to give battles a more authentic feel.
We’re excited to see more gameplay like this, and withBannerlord’s release hopefully just around the corner, we’re sure that TaleWorlds Entertainment has more in store for us very soon.
