Since I was a young boy, I’ve been fascinated with the works ofM.C. Escher. I appreciate his tessellations from a mathematical standpoint, but I really love the drawings that abuse perspective to create impossible constructions. Games likeEchochromeandThe Bridgehave allowed us to exist within those constructions, if only virtually.Monument Valleylooks to do the same, but adds a welcome splash of color to the mix.

The color palette is almost reminiscent ofFEZ, another geometry-bending puzzler, butMonument Valleyappears to play quite differently. Unfortunately for a good percentage of the people reading this, it is currently set as an iPad exclusive, so Android and other tablet users are out of luck for the time being.
