In 2019, Sony re-signed with Major League Baseball to continue producing theMLB The Showfranchise. At the time, the agreement implied thatMLB The Showwould drop its PlayStation exclusivity and would come to Nintendo and Xbox platforms. That didn’t come to fruition in 2020, unfortunately. Baseball fans on Nintendo and Xbox platforms hoped 2021 would be the year where exclusivity ended, but a newMLB The Show 21rating may imply otherwise.
The official rating forMLB The Show 21comes from Brazil’s Ministry of Justice. It’s notable because of the platforms whichMLB The Show 21has been rated for. Both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 have received ratings, while there’s no mention whatsoever of aNintendo or Xbox versionof the game. If this is an official filing from Sony for the upcoming release ofMLB The Show 21, and there’s no immediate reason to think it isn’t, ratings for the other platforms would be expected if the game was coming to them.

Sony hasn’t provided a firm timeframe for when theMLB The Showseries will be coming to other platforms, in all fairness. There isn’t any expectation thatMLB The Show 21will come to Nintendo and Xbox, though there’s certainly hope. It’s possibleSony’s MLB licensedoesn’t require multi-platform support until 2022, or that Sony is able to launch its game on PlayStation first and other platforms later.
Baseball fans won’t have to wait long to find out at least some of the truth. It’s confirmed thatnews regardingMLB The Show 21will be shared in February. Hopefully, that February date includes information about new features, a release date, and, if lucky, news about whenMLB The Showwill be coming to Nintendo and Xbox consoles.
MLB The Show 21is expected to release in 2021.
