Quelling initial speculation that the upcoming remaster ofMark of the Ninjais an exclusive title for the Nintendo Switch, the studio behind the project has revealed that the release will be coming to other platforms as well. Klei Entertainment, the Vancouver-based studio responsible for other games such asDon’t StarveandOxygen Not Included, originally releasedMark of the Ninjaback in 2012.
Earlier this week, the studio posted a new teaser trailer online, following on from earlier announcements, that revealed that the remaster of the game planned for release later this year would not be a Switch exclusive, contrary to earlier assumptions. As can be seen below, the game will in fact be released on the PC, Xbox One, and PS4, in addition to the Nintendo Switch.
Mark of the Ninja Remasteredwas first revealed just a few weeks ago duringthe most recent “Nindies Showcase,“Nintendo’s presentation showcase for indie games coming to the Switch this year. This reveal initially led many to fairly assume that the title was to be an exclusive for the Switch, as the announcement made no mention of other platforms and the game’s teaser trailer was subsequently posted on Nintendo’s official YouTube channel.
Mark of the Ninja Remasteredis planned to include the entirety of the original game and its expansion, together with its New Game Plus mode. As to be expected, the game will have fully remastered “HD, visuals, audio, cutscenes, and effects.” After its 2012 release, the action stealth title quickly received critical acclaim. Indeed, following its success,Mark of the Ninjawas nominated for, and won, alarge number of awards.
Considered by many at the time to beone of the best stealth gamesof recent years,Mark of the Ninja Remasteredlooks likely to have a successful release later this year. This will be especially true if Klei Entertainment has, as it seems, partnered with Nintendo to market the title on the Switch first and foremost, a console which seems ideally suited tothe title’s side-scrolling gameplay.
Mark of the Ninja Remasteredis planned to release this coming autumn on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
