Nintendo opened up this afternoon’sdelayed Nintendo Directwith a special announcement for a previously unrevealed Nintendo Switch game. IntroducingLuigi’s Mansion 3, planned for release on Switch in 2019. Nintendo noted thatLuigi’s Mansion 3is a working title, so it will likely be changed prior to launch in 2019.

Luigi’s Mansion 3was shown only briefly during the 40-minute Nintendo Direct. Though unlike Nintendo’s other recent announcements, such as the nextMetroid Primeandtoday’sAnimal Crossingreveal, the company did have gameplay to share. The 45-second trailer featured about 15 seconds of Luigi getting spooked and sucking up ghosts with his trusty vacuum, the Poltergust. It doesn’t get more authenticallyLuigi’s Mansionthan that.

Nintendo mentioned little beyond what was shown in the Direct regardingLuigi’s Mansion 3. Nintendo of America VP Doug Bowser did describe the announcement as evidence of “something for everyone in the ever-growing Nintendo Switch library,” though. Nintendo clearly sees theLuigi’s Mansionfranchise as an important piece of the company’s currently-in-development franchises.

Luigi’s Mansion 3isn’t the only game in the franchise currently in development, however. Nintendo also took the opportunity to revisit the previously announced remake of theoriginalLuigi’s Mansion, now coming to the Nintendo 3DS. Announced in March earlier this year, Nintendo confirmed that the remake would feature stereoscopic 3D, as well as amiibo functionality.

In today’s Nintendo Direct, it was also revealed that theLuigi’s Mansionremake for the 3DS would be adding two-player cooperative action. Two players who both separately own a copy of the game will be able to team up and capture ghosts. Finally, to clarify the earlier amiibo announcement, Nintendo said that each of the four supported Luigi amiibo will reveal where Boos are hiding in-game.Luigi’s Mansionjoins its sequel,Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, on 3DS starting Oct. 12.
