By taking the likenesses of a plethora of the franchise’s most beloved characters and applying them to brand-new characters completely unrelated to the coreYakuzastory,Ishinsmartly endears itself to older fans of the franchise while offering a completely separate narrative experience.

The weapons in question are the Bonechewer Katana and the Waterdrop Katana, with the Bonechewer having an ominously spiked hilt and blade and the Waterdrop having an elegant water-like pattern throughout. While these katanas may eventually be replaced by more powerful and upgraded weapons asaLike a Dragon: Ishinplaythrough progresses, they both make for excellent choices within the early stages of the game’s offered experience.

As only a single core melee weapon can be equipped at any given time, players may have to choose between the use of either the Bonechewer or Waterdrop katanas, although the difference between each weapon is largely cosmetic and thus may become a much easier choice for many fans. Regardless of the in-game utility of the weapons, the relatively easy manner in which players can obtain two unique and highly stylized katanas is something that should definitely be celebrated so soon afterthe launch ofLike a Dragon: Ishin.
