HBO has ordered an untitled half-hour sketch comedy limited series from Larry David, produced by Barack and Michelle Obama’s production company, Higher Ground. The series, written by David and Jeff Schaffer, will feature a mix of someCurb Your Enthusiasmactors and noteworthy guest stars. Schaffer will also serve as director.

The official logline for the currently untitled history sketch comedy show reads: “President and Mrs. Obama wanted to honor America’s 250th anniversary and celebrate the unique history of our nation on this special occasion…But then Larry David called.”

Former President Obama said of the upcoming collaboration with David, “I’ve sat across the table from some of the world’s most difficult leaders and wrestled with some of our most intractable problems. Nothing has prepared me for working with Larry David.”

While an official title and star have not been announced by HBO or Higher Ground, the new HBO comedy series will be rooted in American history. Jeff Schaffer, who directed 34 episodes ofCurband will be an executive producer, writer, and director of the upcoming series, said this of David’s upcoming roles: “The characters Larry is playing didn’t change history. In fact, they were largely ignored by history. And that’s a good thing.”

Even though a number ofCurbstars are set to make an appearance, there is no indication that the historical sketch comedy show is connected to David’s celebrated series in any way.
