For anime lovers, there is a clear reason thatJump Forceis one of themost anticipated titles of 2019. After all, while this is not the first crossover fighting game, it is the first crossover Anime fighting game of this magnitude. And it seems as if it is set to keep growing, as four new characters from the long-running hit anime,Naruto, have been added to the game’s roster.
First up on this list of new additions is Boruto Uzumaki, the son of Naruto Uzumaki and the series protagonist inBoruto: Naruto Next Generations. Next up is Gaara, the now redeemed foil to Naruto, and now serving as the Fifth Kazekage. Kakashi Hatake also joins the roster, with this character having served an important role as a teacher to the series protagonists Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke. And finally, the main antagonist ofNaruto: Shippuden,Kaguya Otsutsuki, has also been added to theJump Forceroster.
As seen below, these characters were revealed in an early version of the V Jump Magazine’s March 2019 issue. They were revealed alongside some newDragon Ball Zcharacters forJump Forceas well, namely Cell, Trunks, and Piccolo.
Hopefully, we get some footage of these newJump Forcecharacters sooner rather than later, as the above scans do little to highlight the characters' moves in-game. Based on the anime, we can presume some of their fighting styles, but that doesn’t tell us how they will perform in the game, especially in the face of enemies from other animes.
Considering the myriad of other animes appearing inJump Force, this growing roster becomes more and more impressive. Fighting against characters from other animes such asBleachorMy Hero Academiawith any of the aforementioned Naruto characters will definitely add some replay value to this fighting game, a department in which fighting games typically suffer.
Jump Forcelaunches on June 28, 2025, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
