As a quick note, this article is only about the New York Times Games version ofWordle. There are tons of copycats out there, including things like thehistory-themedWordleclone calledYeardleand even some video game-themed ones like theFortnite Wordle, but these will most likely have different answers and may even have different rules of play. The NYTs Games version is the original; it was purchased by the newspaper giant back in February of 2022 from the developer.

Once a starting word is picked, type it into the website using the in-site keyboard or the device’s keyboard. Press enter. This will cause the letters of the chosen word to change color; this will give some clues to the right answer.
Players will need to continue to type new words into theWordlewebsite and watch them change colors until they either run out of their six total guesses or get to the correct answer. There is only one word puzzle per day, and it resets at midnight local time.
