Back in May 2023, Microsoft announced it had come to a deal to bringCall of Dutyto Nintendo players.
It’s two years later, nothing has happened just yet. WithBlack Ops 7on the horizon and the Nintendo Switch 2 freshly launched, gamers are naturally curious when or ifCoDwill be hitting the latest Nintendo console.
The most recentCoDtitle on Nintendo wasCall of Duty: Ghostson the Wii U well over 10 years ago, so gamers are fiending for a chance to play the FPS franchise on Switch 2. It’s now just a matter of when, not if, CoD will return.
Here’s everything we know so far aboutBlack Ops 7coming to Switch 2.
Will BO7 be on Nintendo Switch 2?
As of now, there are no plans forBO7to launch on Nintendo Switch 2. According to Activision, “Call of Duty: Black Ops 7is scheduled for release on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and on PC via Xbox PC, Battle.net, and Steam,” and is also playable day one on Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass.
However, this could change at any time. According toEthan Gachof Kotaku, “both Microsoft and Nintendo are still working on gettingCall of Dutyon the latter’s hardware and will announce something in the future.”
This doesn’t meanBO7will come to Switch 2, as it could allude to the fact that olderCoDtitles may be ported to the newest console. But for now, it remains to be seen whether or not the latestCoDgame will hit the Switch 2.
This summer will be full of news regardingBO7and the Switch 2, so there’s plenty of time for an announcement regarding the game and console to be made leading up toBO7’slaunch this fall.
We want the record to be clear and address any misunderstandings. I’m delighted to repost below this statement and affirm Microsoft’s strong commitment to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo’s customers if our acquisition of Activision Blizzard is approved by regulators.pic.twitter.com/AlsIjwAGEU
Considering thatBO7is coming to PS4 and Xbox One, it’s highly likely that the game will be able to run on the Switch 2’s hardware, considering that the new Nintendo console handheld hybrid’s specs are similar to a PS4 Pro. Beyond that, though, it’s all just speculation at this point.
Stay tuned, Nintendo andCoDgamers, we should have some concrete information sometime over the next few months leading intoBO7’sscheduled release in fall 2025.
