Injustice 2gives gamers another chance to battle in theMortal Kombatstyle with DC Comics heroes and villains. The second installment in the fighting sim franchise introducesa new gear systemthat provides some additional motivation for players to complete the story mode and hunt down Mother Boxes to find item upgrades that improveInjustice 2fighter stats.
To maximize the strengths ofeach playable character on theInjustice 2roster, gamers will need to level them up and unlock all of the best gear for them. Each fighter has an individual level, which can be increased by gaining experience points in the campaign or in the Metaverse. When characters earn enough XP to reach a new rank, they become eligible to equip a new tier of powerful armor that can increase their stats.
Unlocking new armor can be accomplished by working through the game’s campaign, which provides gear as rewards for certain milestones and by opening Mother Boxes. The Mother Boxes are similar toOverwatch’sLoot Boxesand can be earned by the player each time they progress to a new level. Each Mother Box contains three random items that could be for any character in the game.
In addition, there are multiple rarity levels of Mother Boxes and the more rare the Box, the better the items inside will be. The Bronze Boxes will contain lower level items, but the Silver and Gold Boxes contain the highest grade goodies. There’s obviously a bit of a lottery system here that can be frustrating for the completionists out there, but this system seems to be designed to keep players engaged in the content, rather than rushing through it in just a dozen hours or so.
