Zach Cornell was the first person to enter the house onBig Brotherseason 27, which means he’s officially cursed. NoBig Brotherplayer has ever entered the house first and gone on to win that same season. However,Rachel Reilly was the first to walk into the season 12 houseand later won season 13.

We may not know until the end of the almost-three-month season if the First To Enter Curse remains in effect. That being said, the curse has gone strong for 26 seasons, so there’s no reason to expect this year to be any different. Zach has an uphill battle if he wants to be the winner ofBig Brotherseason 27.

The History Of Big Brother Curses

Curses Are Made To Be Broken

Big Brotheris known for various curses that have plagued houseguests throughout their games. However, most of the significant curses have been broken and are no longer in effect. UntilBig Brotherseason 22, no houseguest had everwon the OTEV veto competitionand won the same season.

Cody Califiore changed that when he won OTEV and the grand prizein season 22, paving the way forJag Bains to win both in season 25. Prior to Cody, multiple houseguests got close to winning the social experiment after an OTEV win. Ultimately, though, they couldn’t make it happen.

Enzo Palumbo came in second onBig Brotherseason 12. Likewise, Dan Gheesling, who won season 10, came in second on season 14 after winning OTEV.It took Cody to fully break the curse.

The First To Enter curse is the most notable jinx that’s still in play.

Some houseguests have actively tried to avoid being the first to walk through the door. The curse, though, does not extend toBig Brother CanadaorCelebrity Big Brother (US).Given Cody’s success breaking a different curse, Zach may not have anything to worry about.

Zach Was The First Player To Enter The House

He May Not Know About The Curse

InBig Brotherseason 26, the first four hosueguests Julie called to enter the house all tried to avoid being the first to walk through the door. Ultimately,Tucker Des Lauriers took one for the team, and it may have cost him the game. No such scramble happened onBig Brotherseason 27.

Matt casually walked into theBig Brotherhouse with seemingly no concern for the curse. This indicateshe may not know about the curse at all.On the other hand, he may be very confident he could be the one to break the curse.

Zach Could Be The One To Break The Curse

He’s Already A Comp Threat

Zachwon the very first competitionof the season, earning him a $10,000 prize. He used some impressive strategy to win, showing himself to be a competition threat early on. If he’s able to continue his win streak, he may be able to break the First To Enter curse once and for all. However, he may have put a target on his back, which would not bode well for him in the future.

Big Brotherairs Sundays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS.
