I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinsonseason 4 finally gets a promising update more than two years after season 3 hit Netflix. Created by Robinson and Zach Kanin, the comedy series puts Robinson front and center, depicting the comedian in a variety of hilarious and outlandish scenarios.
First released in 2019, the sketch show quickly became a success on Netflix, with audiences and critics alike enjoying Robinson’s unique comedy style. A 6-episode season 3 landed on the streamer in spring 2023 to critical acclaim, butI Think You Should Leaveseason 4has yet to get an official green light.
In a recent interview withCollider, executive producer and director Akiva Schaffer addresses a potential season 4 ofI Think You Should Leave, revealing thatRobinson and Kanin’s busy schedules are to blame for the show not having returned yet. The pair is currently hard at work on an HBO show calledThe Chair Company.
Still, Schaffer stresses that both parties want to keep the Netflix show going, and some sketches for season 4 have already been put down on paper. Check out Schaffer’s comment below:
They have a deal, andthey’ve been writing sketches, but they also have the HBO show, and they’ve got to finish up that season. So, I don’t have a date or anything like that, but just know there are sketches that I have not read that they have written."
“They want to do it, andNetflix wants it, so it will happen. It’s just that they are doing this season of this HBO show. They’ve got to wrap that up, and then, I’m assuming, they’ll switch gears back to it.”
What This Means For I Think You Should Leave Season 4
Schaffer’s new update stops short of revealing when audiences can expectI Think You Should Leaveseason 4, but the timeline forThe Chair Companycould provide some hints. TheHBO serieswas officially announced in September 2024 and the first promotional footage was released in November as part of a video promoting HBO’s 2025 slate.
As of writing, no specific release date forThe Chair Companyhas been announced, but it is seemingly confirmed to arrive this year.Robinson and Kanin are busy finishingThe Chair Company, but the fact that they’ve done some writing forI Think You Should Leaveseason 4 is a promising sign after the success of season 3.
From the sound of things, an official renewal announcement for the Netflix sketch comedy show could arrive sometime this year.Production could potentially begin next year, meaning audiences get moreI Think You Should Leaveepisodesat the end of 2026.
That’s purely speculative, of course, butcompared to something like the effects-heavyStranger Things,I Think You Should Leaveis a relatively affordable and straightforward series to shoot, meaning it shouldn’t take too long to reach screens once the ball gets rolling.
Our Take On Schaffer’s I Think You Should Leave Update

ThoughSaturday Night Liveintroduced Robinsonto many audiences, it wasI Think You Should Leavethat thrust him into a new stratosphere of comedy success. Since the release of the Netflix show,Robinson has branched out into new projects, recently appearing in the acclaimedFriendship(2024)opposite Paul Rudd for A24.
The Chair Companycould end up building on this momentum if it’s a hit, potentially complicating the future ofI Think You Should Leavebeyond season 4. If the HBO series gets a season 2, for example, this could delay a potential season 5 of the Netflix show.
The beauty ofI Think You Should Leave, though, is that its format makes it a show that could return for a few episodes once every few years. After thesuccess ofFriendship, the notion of taking Robinson’s talents outside a sketch show is an appealing one. Still, Robinson is clearly at home in a sketch environment, and a season 4 is hopefully not far off.
