Nearly two years since their release, I have finally regretted never pulling for one brokenGenshin Impactcharacter, and I now fear that it may be too late to add them to my roster. The action RPG by HoYoverse is now nearing the end of Version 5.6, an important update that brought forth a relevant Archon Quest that further developed the story of Mondstadt and some of its governing powers. The patch also addedEscoffier toGenshin Impact, kicking off the long-rumored Cryo meta with a powerful sub-DPS who has proven to be useful against some of the new bosses.

The 4-star Anemo unit, Ifa, was also added to the patch. Looking into the future, the game will continue to receive more playable characters. Skirk and Dahlia have already been confirmed by the developer for Version 5.7.The leaks say that Skirk will be a 5-star Cryo DPS who works best in Freeze teams, while Dahlia is expected to be a 4-star Hydro support who is also at his best in Freeze teams. The release ofSkirk inGenshin Impacthas long been awaited, but I can’t help but look back and regret not pulling for another character.

I Regret Never Pulling For Furina In Genshin Impact

I Skipped All Of The Character’s Banners

Originally released in November 2023, Furina is a character I regret never having pulled for. Since the initial leaks about her kit, I knew she was going to be a powerful character to have.Capable of operating as a DPS, sub-DPS, healer, or buffer, the 5-star Hydro unit from Fontaine excels at all of her tasks, provided that players use the appropriateFurina build inGenshin Impact. As impressed as I was at her kit, I skipped her debut banner with the excuse that I already had individual characters that fit each of the roles she is capable of performing.

For Hydro DPS units, I had Kamisato Ayato and Tartaglia, while the Hydro sub-DPS role was well-covered with my Yelan. When it came to healers, I have a well-built Barbara and the ever-reliable Bennett – despite them being 4-star characters, they never faltered with any of my team comps. Lastly, I have a plethora of damage buffers in my roster. As such,I was never convinced I truly needed Furina. Not only did I skip her debut banner, but her other two rerun banners, too. Looking back on the decision toskip Furina inGenshin Impact, I only feel regret.

The 5-Star Hydro Character Is A Multitool In Genshin Impact

Furina Can Operate As A Sub-DPS & Support

What I didn’t take into account at the time of my decision was that Furina is not only good at her individual roles, but she is also versatile. The Hydro unit can swap her roles on the spot, with the simple click of a button. Surely, builds do influence just how well she performs in each of her roles, but if she is set as a sub-DPS in your party and you suddenly see yourself in need of more healing because your dedicated healer inGenshin Impactisn’t withstanding the amount of damage income, Furina’s damage-dealing summons can be swapped.

With the healing summon, Furina can help provide some extra sustain for your team in tight situations, for example. The contrary is also true: if you are comfortable with your team’s health during a battle, you can simply swap her healing summon into the damage-dealing ones for extra damage output. In addition to that, regardless of her build,Furina can also provide extra buffs for her allies, making her a true multitool on the battlefield. One of the risky aspects of running Furina is her HP drain, but I particularly love HP loss mechanics inGenshin Impact.

This is because the HP loss that Furina triggers comes accompanied by immense power, and the trade is fair. Furthermore, it’s easy to heal through her HP drain, as dangerous as it may initially sound.Another positive aspect of Furina’s HP drain is that she enables all her party members to be built around HP fluctuations, allowing them to use and benefit from certain Artifact sets. One such example is theMarechaussee Hunter Artifact set inGenshin Impact, which can grant up to 36% CRIT Rate when the user’s HP increases or decreases.

Traditionally, the Marechaussee Hunter set works with characters who have innate HP loss mechanics, like Hu Tao, Lyney, and Xiao, for example, but Furina enables any DPS in her team to use it and take advantage of its bonus.

Furina’s off-field value cannot be underestimated either. With the recent release of Mavuika, players can form a powerful Archon-led team comp that requires little effort to decimate enemies. By using Furina to deal Hydro DMG to enemies and buff her allies, Mavuika’s continuous Pyro DMG attacks, reacting with Nahida’s Dendro DMG via her Elemental Skill and Raiden Shogun’s Electro DMG via her Skill, players can trigger Skills and just wait for enemies to fall. Furthermore,Furina also has value in exploration, as she can walk on water when her Elemental Skill is activeinGenshin Impact.

I Also Regret Skipping Neuvillette & Wriothesley Banners In Genshin Impact

Skirk Took Priority Over Wriothesley, Only To Disappoint Me With Her Leaks

Unfortunately, Furina is not the only character I regret not pulling for – she is the one I most regret not trying to obtain. In addition to her, however, I also regret not pulling for Neuvillette and Wriothesley. For both of these characters, I also considered that I did not need any extra DPS units. Neuvillette, however, quickly became one of the strongest DPS characters in the game, andWriothesley inGenshin Impactestablished himself as one of the best Cryo DPS units. Like Furina, I also skipped their rerun banners, regrettably.

My lack of a Neuvillette, however, was somewhat compensated for when I obtained Mualani. While they operate in very different ways and Mualani can be worse than Neuvillette when dealing with mobs, I’m satisfied enough with her damage output to not feel the urge to pull for Neuvillette nowadays. It’s another story with Wriothesley, however. This character has only had one rerun, which happened in Version 5.4 after a long period of waiting.I considered pulling for Wriothesley, but instead opted to save Primogems for the release of SkirkinGenshin Impact.

I truly regret this. Based on the leaks, Skirk is limited to Freeze team comps, while Wriothesley can operate in a plethora of different Cryo-based teams. I should have spent my resources on him instead of saving for a character whom I knew nothing about. Overall, I made poor banner choices during the Fontaine era and even missed out on the chance to correct those wrongs with reruns. Now, it’s likely I’ll have to wait a long time to pull for Furina or Wriothesley again, and whenever they do rerun inGenshin Impact, I’m afraid they’ll have lost their value.
