Austin Shepard entered theLove Islandseason 7 villa on day one, but I don’t think he’s actually on the show to find love. Austin had a rough start to the season, being the only man none of the women wanted to couple up with. Because Ace Greene chose to couple up with Yulissa Escobar over Chelley Bissainthe, Austin and Chelley ended up with each other by default. Since then, Austin has continued to struggle to form connections with theLove Islandseason 7 cast members.
Love Islandmay be a dating show, but it doesn’t have a very high success rate. Over the course of six seasons, onlyfiveLove Islandcouples are still together. While that does mean the show has more successful couples thanThe Bachelor, it pales in comparison to the likes ofLove Is Blind. However, the cast should still be on the show for love, and I don’t think Austin is.
Austin Doesn’t Seem Like He Wants To Settle Down
He Appears To Be A Player
Despite his words, Austin hasn’t given any indication that he’s looking for a serious relationship. While he said that he’s looking to find his person onLove Islandseason 7, the rest of his intro didn’t inspire confidence that Austin’s telling the truth. He talked about his job as a pool technician and mentioned his job means he gets to look at beautiful women every day.He also talked about his favorite pick-up move, which is spilling a woman’s drink on purpose but making it seem like an accident, and then buying her a new one.
Healthy relationships aren’t built on lies, even small ones like a spilled drink.
WhileLove Island’s Austin Shepardsaid he wants a big family, he made it clear he won’t settle down with the wrong person. However, instead of just parting ways when he realizes a woman isn’t right for him,Austin said he would just have a physical relationship with her. How can he be looking for a serious relationship while also messing around with women he knows he’s not interested in?
Austin also seems far more concerned with finding a physical connection than an emotional one. While talking with one of the new bombshells, Hannah Fields, Austin made sure to ask whether a physical connection was important to her. Instead of getting to know her on a deeper level and discovering common interests,Austin jumped straight to asking about physicality. Of course, it’s okay to want a strong physical connection. However, I think Austin’s one-track mind means he doesn’t actually want something serious.
Austin Was Ready To Give Up His Strongest Connection
He Almost Gave Up His Relationship With Chelley
One of the biggest reasons I thinkAustinisn’t serious about finding love is because of what happened when Cierra Ortega entered the villa.Austin and Cierra barely talked, as she was more interested in Nic Vansteenberghe and Austin was still developing his connection with Chelley. Yet, when the men were given the opportunity to express interest in Cierra and let her pick someone to couple up with, Austin stood up, abandoning Chelley.
I don’t think Austin genuinely wants a relationship because he was so willing to abandon his connection with a beautiful woman the moment he saw someone else. Austin and Cierra clearly didn’t have any sort of connection, and definitely didn’t connect deeper than Austin and Chelley. If Austin is always onto the next best thing,he’ll never find the relationship he claims he wants.
Will Austin Make It Far On Love Island Season 7?
He’ll Need To Find A Connection
Based on his actions the first week in the villa, I don’t think Austin will make it very far onLove Islandseason 7. to avoid elimination, the cast members have to remain coupled up. As Austin is currently lacking any strong connections, I think it’s only a matter of time before he finds himself single and off the island. It’s possible he’ll connect better with the new bombshells, but I’m not holding my breath.
Love Island USAairs on Peacock at 9 p.m. EDT every night, except Wednesdays.
