Horizon: Zero Dawnhas had a great reception since its release, with a number ofhighly positive reviewsand a fantastic reaction from its players. However, as with any major launch, there have been a few kinks to iron out post-release. The latest patch for the game tries to solve some of these issues, with a focus on fixing bugs within the game’s quests.

Patch 1.04 forHorizon: Zero Dawnis available for download now, and will ensure that various major and minor issues with quests are resolved. For main quest objectives, these go everywhere from making sure that objectives update correctly through to ensuring that characters spawn correctly so the player can proceed through the quest.

Some side quests, too, will get a tweak. Again, these fixes will come to minor details that affect the player’s ability to complete quests, with objectives failing to update and the player being able to complete parts of certain quest lines at the wrong moment.

As well as this, there are a few tweaks in general that come with the recent patch. It fixes an issue where the game’s exploration music will drop out during a long period of play, while an issue where Aloy has become stuck in a sliding animation has also been resolved. There will also be a few “miscellaneous issues” that have been fixed, to improve the overall experience of the game.

Guerrilla Games and Sony did a solid job with thelaunch patch ofHorizon: Zero Dawn, but since then the companies have not been resting on their laurels, with a number of additional patches releasing for the game. Indeed,Patch 1.03released very recently, so it’s good to see that the title is being tweaked regularly to ensure that it is as smooth an experience as possible for players.

As it turns out, however,Horizon: Zero Dawncould have been a very different game from the one that gamers received. At one point, the development team actuallyconsidered adding gunsas a regular part of the gameplay, rather than sticking to the bow-and-arrow focus of the title. Given how refreshing the combat inHorizon: Zero Dawnis, gamers will certainly be relieved that this never made it past early development.
