Fans of theHaloseries rejoiced when 343 Industries and Microsoft revealed thatHalo: The Master Chief Collectionwould release for PCfor the first time, and would includeHalo: Reach, which was initially left out of the collection. Unfortunately, players will have to wait a bit longer before going on their first flight, as the beta testing of the game has been delayed.
As revealed by 343 Industries Community Director Brian Jarrard in a tweet,Halo: The Master Chief Collection- includingHalo: Reach- won’t be ready for beta testing via theHaloInsider Program when initially expected. AfterHalo: The Master Chief Collectionwas announced for PCin March, Jarrard revealed via Twitter that the first flights, or beta tests, were tentatively planned to begin on the PC starting in April. However, in the new tweet, he points out that it’s a complex project and will take a bit more time than initially hoped to reach the beta testing stage.
For the moment, there’s been no announcement as to when PC players can now expect to get their first shot at the game. AsHalo: The Master Chief Collectionwill be released one game at a time for PC, with a planned start for this year, it’s unlikely that the beta will be considerably delayed. Jarrard noted that more information on the beta tests would be provided ‘soon.’
Many fans of the series have taken the news quite well, likely due in part to the ambitious efforts Microsoft and 343 are putting forward.Halo:The Master Chief Collectionis essentially being rebuilt from the ground up for PC, rather than simply moving a straight port from the Xbox One version, which was beleaguered with quite a few issues at launch. It’s also still slated to release both on the Microsoft Store and via Steam, which has been a relief to PC gamers who have been troubled by the recent rise ofEpic Games Store exclusives.
WhileHalo: The Master Chief Collection’s first beta tests for the PC are back up in the air, there’s still plenty for fans of the series to be look forward to.Halo: Infinitemay be a next-gen launch title, and Microsoft plans to show it off during E3 in June.
Halo: The Master Chief Collectionis set to release for PC in 2019.
