Halo Infinitecarries over and builds off of the mechanics that worked well in the previous games in the series. Among the familiar game mechanics that carry over toHalo Infiniteis the Skull system. Skulls, when activated, add a modifier to a player’s game and often add a new challenge.
As with other games in the series, these Skulls inHalo Infinitecan be quite the challenge to locate, especially considering the open world. This is particularly true for the Thunderstorm Skull, which rests in a complex area to access. For those players looking toget the Thunderstorm Skull inHalo Infinite, this guide is here to help.

Where is the Thunderstorm Skull
The Thunderstorm Skull is hidden in the central part ofHalo Infinite’s open world, just below the area where Pelican Down takes place. Players looking for this Skull should first head to the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Juliet. It lies to the south of the Skull’s location and is the closest FOB in the area. Follow the road to the west of this base to the north until it branches. Then follow the eastern branch towards the large outcropping of hexagonal pillars.
The Thunderstorm Skull is on the top of a single pillar directly south of the large mountain. Players have three choices to get this Skull: with a flying vehicle, jumping off the nearby mountain, or using the Grappleshot. Banshees and Wasps are a bit harder to come bythan other vehicles inHalo Infinite, but they can easily be used to drop onto the pillar with the Skull. The second option, jumping from the top of the mountain, is more of a challenge, but it can be accomplished if players get to the edge near the dead Brute and jump from there.
The third approach relies heavily onHalo Infinite’s Grappleshotand is easier the more upgrades the player has invested in this tool. Approach the column with the Skull and fire the Grappleshot as far up as possible. Continue firing to climb this pillar and, after a handful of shots, players should be able to climb up and retrieve the Thunderstorm Skull.
What does the Thunderstorm Skull do?
The Thunderstorm Skull is primarily useful for those players that like to create more of a challenge. When activated, theThunderstorm Skull upgrades the rank of most enemies, making them more difficult to take down. To activate this ability, players have to turn on this Skull before loading a saved game.Activating a Skull inHalo Infinitejust requires players to open up the options menu when loading their campaign.
