As current fighting games linger through DLC to lengthen their life cycle, there is one new fighter on the horizon. Fans of high octane anime fighter action have eagerly awaited any news regarding a release date forGuilty Gear Strive, and now those players know when to get their arcade sticks ready.

Confirmed via a new trailer, Arc System Works announced thatGuilty Gear Strivewill release next year on two separate dates.Guilty Gear Strivewill be coming to the PS4, PS5 and PC on April 6 for Ultimate and Deluxe Edition buyers while the Standard Edition will release on April 9. The Standard edition and Ultimate editions will be released in both physical and digital formats while Deluxe will be digital only. WithGuilty Gear Striveannounced for PlayStation 5back in August, it will also feature a physical release.

The recent trailer also provides details on the numerous versions players can buy alongside some information on the game’s season pass. Outside of just the three day early access toGuilty Gear Strive, both the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions will be packaged with Season Pass 1. The first Season Pass will feature 5 additional characters, 5 additional colors for the roster, two new stages and finally an “Extra Story” mode. Ultimate Edition buyers get the added bonus of digital soundtrack and artwork with extra color packs.

WhileGuilty Gear Striveis seemingly first “new” fighting game on the horizon, it won’t be the first of the genre to grace upcoming hardware. NetherRealm Studios recently announced thatMortal Kombat 11 Ultimateis releasing on PS5 and Xbox Seriesconsoles. It is another re-release ofMortal Kombat 11with the gory fighter being available just after both consoles launch.

With the new April release date, it seems thatStrive’s delay due to COVID-19was quite severe. While the game may just be missing out on the next-gen launch window, anime fighting fans are still excited for the next entry in the franchise.

Guilty Gear Strivewill release on April 9 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. Deluxe and Ultimate Edition owners can play the title on April 6.
