A new image ofGhostsseason 4 introduces a character that may well upend Sam’s special powers. The hit CBS sitcom, which itself is an adaptation of a British sitcom, is rooted in the premise that Samantha (Rose McIver) had a near-death experience that allowed her to see the dead. Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar), Sam’s husband, is along for the ride and steadily adjusts to Sam’s special circumstances as they attempt to jump-start their bed-and-breakfast. Formost ofGhosts, which has been renewed for two additional seasons, that has been largely uncontested.
The latest update fromTVLinesuggests that Samantha may not be as singular as first thought, asSuperstorevet Ben Feldman joins the series. He’ll play Kyle, who can also see and talk to spirits. Feldman willmake his first appearance in the May 1 episode, titled “Kyle,” which airs at 8:30 PM ET on CBS. In the photo, included below, the new arrival is seen with a smiling Pete (Richie Moriarty).
What This Means For Ghosts
Trouble In Paradise
The official description teases thatSam and Jay’s relationship will be tested when Kyle arrives at the central Woodstone B&B. It’s unclear how Kyle gained his abilities and whether, like Sam, it involved a threat to his well-being, but his presence causes trouble for the show’s central duo. Thatcould be because Sam and Kyle bond over all they have in common, leaving Jay to feel a bit left out, but there is a more interesting route that showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman could take.

Feldman is the fourthSuperstorealum to appear onGhosts, following Nichole Sakura, Kaliko Kauahi, and Irene White. He’s a familiar face to sitcom fans that’s known for his performance as Jonah Simmsopposite America Ferrera’s Amy Sosa, his inclusion intheGhostscastcould signal to Sam and Jay that there’s another way they could have lived their lives and thatshifting to accommodate the spirits isn’t the only paththey could have taken.
Our Take On Feldman’s Addition To Ghosts
Why Not Shake Things Up?
Four seasons in is exactly when a show should try to tug and tweak its central premise. After revealing major details about theGhostsrecently, includingHetty’s power, it’s a smart move to introduce the question of what it would be like if someone else had Sam’s abilities. It leads to questions about what they would do with it and how their lives would change, which deserves a significant spotlight in the upcoming episode.
