When it was revealed at E3 2015 thatGears of War: Ultimate Editionwas coming to PC sometime in 2016, there has been some speculation as to whether The Coalition’s upcomingGears of War 4would also make the jump to PC. And based on a recent reveal from The Coalition studio head Rod Fergusson, the answer is still up in the air. After a quick tease at E3 2015 on the possibility ofGears of War 4eventuallycoming to PC, Fergusson was recently asked again whether their upcoming third-person shooter will make it to PC.

Fergusson’s answer to that question? A simple “Possibly”.

With such an on-the-fence answer like that, it doesn’t look like the speculation on a PC version ofGears of War 4will be going away any time soon. But given that Xbox Boss Phil Spencer has reiterated thatMicrosoft is committed to PC gaming, it’s fair to say that until Fergusson flat out says “no”, a PC version ofGears of War 4remains a possibility.

It’s no secret that PC is the place to be for cutting-edge graphics and gaming performance - just look atThe Divisionon PC- and given that Fergusson has recently hypedGears of War 4as a “graphical showcase”, it would be a bit of a shame if the game were to miss out on harnessing the full power of PC.

While this PC news from Fergusson won’t exactly be music to the ears of someGears of Warfans, at least gamers will have the comfort of knowing thatGears of War 4will be going back to its roots. Yesterday saw the confirmation thatGears of War 4will support split-screen co-op, something which will make long-timeGearsfans happy. Couple that with yesterday’s reveal of some intriguing story details about the game-Gears of War 4is set on the planet Sera 25 years afterGears of War 3- there is still much to look forward to fromGears of War 4.

The question of whetherGears of War 4will have a PC version is still up in the air, but given that thePC Gaming Show at E3 2015saw the announcement ofGears of War: Ultimate Editionon PC, perhaps the the answer will come at this year’sPC Gaming Show for E3 2016.

Gears of War 4is scheduled for launch in 2016 for Xbox One.
