It needed that moment of everybody seeing the other one for who they are, and accepting them for who they are. That’s when everything comes back together again. It felt like everyone needed that moment ofseeingthe other person.
What These Comments Mean For Freakier Friday
As Anna and Tess (Curtis) helpfully remind audiences in the film, they were able to undo their first body switch experience when they came to understand each other better. Vanessa Bayer’s psychic character hints that something similar will need to happen for this four-way swap to be reversed, citing a riddle that requires them to “change the hearts you know are wrong.”
The meaning of this phrase can be interpreted as the process each character has to go through to change their own heart andtruly see the other person, as Ganatra’s quote says. InFreakier Friday’s ending,Tess and Lily go through this evolution first, with Lily realizing that she should not have tried to break up her father’s marriage,and that she could be happy staying in LA with the Colemans.
With Tess and Lily convinced that things can work out,the last hearts to change are Harper and Anna’s.Harper was initially irate that her mother would make her move to London, but knowing they are staying in LA and having “togethership” with her mom helps her have a change of heart as well.
Our Take On Freakier Friday’s Ending
Curtis is right to be so moved byFreakier Friday. While it is definitely a cheesy ending, the film comes from a place of genuine emotion as it explores ideas of how to reform families, even when it might not be easy or conventional. In the process, the main characters have to go through big evolutions, and the climactic finale sees all those major changes happen.
