During the last half of April 2018, Epic Games decided to hold a contest in which it askedFortnitefans to contribute footage created with the use of the sandbox survival title’sin-game replay systemto see who could splice together the best highlight reel to win a high-end Alienware Aurora PC package and more. Now, the judging window has officially come to a close, as the company has chosen to unveil the Top 5 winners who submitted their own clips.
As seen in the video and tweet below from the officialFortniteTwitter account, Epic Games must have had to make some difficult deliberations, as those who made the cut of the Top 5 in the Replay Royale contest certainly put a lot of effort into editing their entries. Ultimately, though, the judges decided to go with the YouTuber known as Enzait’s highly stylized entry dubbed “Revenge”, which follows the short story of an avatar who dives off the Battle Bus once more to wreak havoc on his enemies after having suffered an explosively embarrassing defeat in a previous match.
Aside from the Top 5 winners inFortnite’s Replay Royale contest, players have used the in-game replay system in a variety of different ways to explore the sandbox survival title’s map and uncover changes that the development team has in store for the game. For instance,Fortniteplayers previously used the feature to discover a series of floating rings several weeks ago that preceded Epic Games' addition of askydiving challenge.
All things considered,Fortnitefans will surely continue to utilize the game’s replay system for a multitude of purposes, be it to tell interesting narratives through short films, to comb the map for potential secrets, or to simply revisit a match in which they claimed a hard-won Victory Royale. Of course, if Epic Games decides to hold another contest in the vein of the most recent Replay Royale soon, then would-be video editors looking to take the top spot will likely be facing even stiffer competition than before, as fans will only keep getting better with the feature.
Fortniteis available now in early access for iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
