Without a doubt, some of Epic Games' major methods in ensuring retention of its player base in the wildly popular multiplayer sandbox survival titleFortniteis in the addition of newLimited Time Modesand fresh items to keep fans coming back for more. Speaking of items, the developer is set to incorporate yet another object for use in the free-to-play Battle Royale portion of the game by including Shopping Carts at some point down the line.
As seen in the image below from theFortnitefan and Redditor known as “jdundee”, Epic Games has used the title’s in-game news feed to tease that Shopping Carts are “coming soon”, with the caption beside the item saying that players will be able to “roll into battle alone or with a buddy”. While it hasn’t been officially confirmed as of yet how they will work, it looks as if the studio is set to make Shopping CartsFortnite’s first vehicle of sorts.
Should Shopping Carts actually operate as a means for transportation inFortnite, it makes one wonder how much faster players will be able to travel across the map, and if weapons can actually be used while they’re being ridden. Hopefully, though, the wait for these questions to be answered won’t be too long, as Shopping Carts could be made available as early as the next update alongsideSeason 4 Week 5’s Battle Pass Challengesgoing live.
Bearing all of this in mind, it’s worth reiterating that it’s still too early to tell exactly how Shopping Carts will function as an item inFortnite, so there’s always the possibility that their use could be totally different than that of a mode of transportation. After all, Epic Games stated several months ago thatit didn’t have any plans for vehiclesto be added into the title. Then again, a Shopping Cart technically isn’t a vehicle, so it wouldn’t have been a fib if the studio does allow for them to be rideable.
Fortniteis available now in early access for iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
