FortniteBattle Royale’s Season 8 has officially gone live across its supported platforms, with the free-to-play shooter from Epic Games having received a bevy of different changes, including some related tothe title’s map. As has been the case with previous seasons, though, Epic still has plenty more content planned, with the developer having recently teased thatFortnitewill be adding a Buried Treasure item in the near future.

According toFortniteBattle Royale’s in-game news feed, the multiplayer release will be getting the Buried Treasure item “soon”, with the object coming in the form of what appears to be a treasure map that will assist players in “scour[ing] the island for hidden loot”. There’s no telling specifically how the new item will work, or exactly when it will be arriving in the game, so we will have to wait and see just what it does once it’s added.

For those unaware, prior to the launch ofFortnite’s eighth season, Epic teasedpirate-related contentwould be coming to the title. With this being the case, the Buried Treasure item will definitely support such buccaneer-themed assets. It’s unclear at this point if even more booty of this ilk will be brought to the game.

As previously mentioned,Fortnitehas a bunch of new content for players to experience thanks to Season 8’s arrival, with Epic having taken inspiration from competitors with some of the fresh wares brought to the game.
