Square Enix recently uploaded a video to YouTube featuringAll Elite Wrestling star Kenny Omegainterviewing game producer Yoshinori Kitase, who was the director of the originalFinal Fantasy 7and is serving as producer of the upcomingFinal Fantasy 7 Remake. During the interview, Omega asked some questions about other Square Enix franchises, asking Kitase directly about the dormant survival-horror/action-RPG seriesParasite Eve.
During the interview, Omega pointed out how Kitase was a producer for the PSP gameThe 3rd Birthday, which launched all the way back in 2010 as a PSP exclusive. Omega asked Kitase if he would like to see moreParasite Evegames in the future, to which Kitasei responded, “The characters are very deep and rich, especially Aya Brea. I don’t know of any plans right now, but it would be a waste to not use those characters.”

While some fans may be disappointed to learn that a newParasite Evegame is apparently not in active development, at least to Kitase’s knowledge, his acknowledgment that it would be a “waste” to not use the characters should give fans hope. Whether a newParasite Evegame came in the form of a remake or a brand new entry remains to be seen, but it’s safe to say fans would be happy with either possibility.
Kitase’s comments in the interview aren’t the first sign that Square Enix hasn’t completely abandoned theParasite Evefranchise. Last year,Square Enix renewed theParasite Evetrademarkin Europe, and while companies do that all the time to protect their IP, it could very well be a sign that it plans on releasing a new game in the series at some point down the line.
There was also aParasite Eveeaster egghidden in theFinal Fantasy 7 RemakeE3 trailer from 2015, which could be taken as another sign that Square Enix has plans for the franchise in some capacity. However, it’s worth pointing out thatFinal Fantasy 7 Remakehas changed dramatically from its original version, so it’s quite possible that theParasite Evereference has been removed.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s launchis just a month away, so fans should be able to jump in and search forParasite Eveeaster eggs sooner rather than later.
