Following theFinal Fantasy 7 Remakereveal during Sony’s E3 2015 press conference, which sent the crowd into a frenzy, fans have been eagerly awaiting more news regarding Enix’s highly anticipated project.

Unfortunately, the past few months have been scarce of information outside of a few screenshots, and a look at a remade boss fight. Earlier this year, it was confirmed that the main story voice acting was almost done though who specifically would be voicing each character, such as Cloud Strife, remained a mystery up until recently.

While some fans had likely figured the voice actor would return to the role, Steve Burton made it official on Twitter by confirming he would once again voice Cloud Strife forFinal Fantasy 7 Remake.Burton, for those that remember, also voiced the character for theFinal Fantasy 7: Advent ChildrenCGI film.

While the actor is commonly linked to daytime soap operas, Burton also has extensive experience working with Square Enix across many of their franchises. He’s been lending his voice to Cloud since 2002 in games likeKingdom Hearts,Dissidia, and evenCrisis Core:Final Fantasy VII.

While the inclusion ofvoice acting inFinal Fantasy 7 Remakehas left some fans a little uneasy, the fact that Burton has a wealth of experience playing the beloved character should help fans rest easy. If nothing else, he has experience with the character, which is better than Square Enix going out and hiring a big name to fill the role.

In the grand scheme of things, though, voice actings is likely low on fans' list of concerns, as Square Enix has adopted a few changes in the hopes of modernizing the game. For example, the decision tosplit the experience into episodeshas been met with much hesitation, although the developers have clarified that each episode will be more likeFinal Fantasy 13and its sequels rather than smaller, bite-sized pieces. Each episode, in this case, will essentially be a full sized game in terms of content, allowing the team to flesh out the story in greater detail.

Final Fantasy 7 Remakeis currently in development for the PlayStation 4.
