The appearance of a mysterious, brand new Pokemon inPokemon GOhad players and non-players alike scratching their heads, with many believing it wasan unintentional leak. But Nintendo very soon after revealed its identity - Meltan, a Mythical Steel-type Pokemon that will be making an appearance in the upcomingPokemon Let’s Go, Pikachu & Eevee, the series' debut on Switch. But there is still a lot we don’t know about, and Nintendo is continuing to tease us about it.
Earlier today, two new videos were released on the official Pokemon YouTube channel centered around Meltan. It’s still unclear how players will be able to obtain the creature whenPokemon: Let’s GOreleases, but one of the videos - a live-action clip that sees a bunch of Meltan playing around a house - teases what could be either an evolution (a rarity among Mythical Pokemon) or a new form. We only see its shadow ,but maybe it can only be formed when several Meltan come together.
The second video is a follow-up to a previous one that releasedwhen Meltan was first officially revealedand sees Professors Oak and Willow doing further research that specifically concerns a Mystery Box. The box is essential to catching Meltan and can only be obtained when players transfer a Pokemon fromGOtoLet’s GO.
Once the box is opened, Meltan will begin to appear and can be caught inGOand later transferred toLet’s GO. More specific details about transferring, the box ,and how those who don’t playPokemonGOcan receive their own Meltancan be found here.
In other recent news,Pokemon GOplayers can look forward to Generation 4 Pokemon finally appearing in the game, waiting to be captured. It seems every creature from theDiamond,Pearl, andPlatinumversions of the game will be included, withthe Legendary Giratinabeing teased as a raid boss.
