What This Means For ESPN

The app’s new features are meant to help ESPN stand out from other live sports and streaming options. The multiview feature is already available via other services, including AppleTV and YouTube TV, which means that in this area, ESPN is trying to replicate what has already been successful elsewhere.

“SportsCenter For You” makes the highlights and post-game analysis more personalized than ever before by providing what the respective user is most interested in. Those who enjoy TikTok-style videos can also get highlights, along with the viral clips and social media content associated with the biggest games.

While some of these features feel brand-new and others feel more familiar, the new app is meant to streamline the process of watching live sports and engaging in the full fan experience.

Our Take On ESPN’s New App

As someone who is a very casual sports fan, most of the features in ESPN’s new app do not appeal to me. I have watchedESPN30 for 30documentariesand live sports in the past and never felt the need for personalized, AI-powered highlights or TikTok-style videos to be part of the experience.

The only feature that seems valuable to me is the multiview. During sporting events like March Madness, it is ideal to watch numerous games at once. That being said, ESPN is playing catch-up in this area since other streaming services are already doing this.
