It’s probably going to be a few years beforeDragon Quest 12comes out, but in the meantime, fans of the series will soon have more ways to enjoy its most recent mainline entry, courtesy ofDragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition, which got a new trailer today.
Since last year, the latest iteration of the critically-acclaimed 2017 JRPG has been exclusive to the Nintendo Switch, but that will change on December 4. In addition to launching for PC on Steam and the Epic Games Store, the game will be coming to PS4 and Xbox One. Xbox users in particular will have a few extra options for playing the game, asDragon Quest 11 Swill be available on Xbox Game Passand as a Play Anywhere title, allowing players to carry their saves between Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs.

As for the new trailer, which was revealed during Square Enix’s Tokyo Game Show presentation, it offers a decent refresher on all of the extra content that theDefinitive EditionofDragon Quest 11will bring to these new platforms. These include new character side stories, a 16-bit mode reminiscent ofclassicDragon Questgames, and the option to switch between Japanese and English audio, among other enhancements.
If that stokes their interest at all, fans canpre-orderDragon Quest 11 Sand be ready for its arrival in a couple of months. It’s worth noting, though, that there are no pre-order bonuses, like a discount for owners of the game’s original version. That might not please some fans, but theDefinitive Editionwill only cost $40, so at the very least, players won’t have to pay full price just to access all of the new content.
