The newest artwork fromDragon Ball’s artist Toyotarou is highlighting a pair of Saiyans that some fans may not be familiar with, but that doesn’t change the fact that they’re looking more incredible than ever before. Shared by the officialDragon Ballsite, there’s a special reason behind this new art.

Toyotarou is best known as the artist forDragon Ball Super, taking over sole duties of running the manga after Akira Toriyama’s tragic passing last year. The new artwork wasshared to the officialDragon Ballwebsiteas part of a recurring column dedicated to sharing sketches and art by Toyotarou, but it also serves a dual purpose. The new art features Shallot and Giblet, two Saiyan brothers from the mobile game known asDragon Ball Legends. That game happens to be celebrating its seventh anniversary at the moment, making the art dedicated to it all the more special.

Toyotarou Highlights The Ancient Saiyan Brothers in New Art

Shallot and Giblet Have Never Looked So Cool

InDragon Ball Legends, Shallot is an ancient Saiyan, from a time long before the Saiyan race had settled on Planet Vegeta, who was brought forward in time as part of a Tournament of Time alongside his brother, Giblet. Shallot is, in many ways, a typical Saiyan, with a short temper and a love of battle. Shallot suffers some memory loss, making it difficult for him to remember his past after being brought to the future. Shallot is considered one of the “good” Ancient Saiyans, as opposed to the barbarous ones, and has the potential within him to obtain the Super Saiyan God form.

As twins, Giblet looks quite a lot like Shallot, but has a scar on his cheek he obtained from Shallot. Giblet also lacks a tail, while Shallot is typically depicted with one, indicating that something happened to Giblet’s tail at some point. Giblet takes on a more antagonistic role inDragon Ball Legends, threatening to wipe out the modern Saiyans who he feels have lost the true path of Saiyan strength and pride. Both Giblet and Shallot are said to be descendants ofthe original Super Saiyan God, Yamoshi.

The Artwork Goes to Show How Dedicated Toyotarou is to Dragon Ball

While Shallot and Giblet were no doubt chosen to help celebrateDragon Ball Legends' seventh anniversary, the art still looks amazing, and it shows that Toyotarou is more than ready to get back toDragon Ball Super, whenever the manga is fit to return. WithToyotarou set to appear at the Japan Expo in Paris in July, fans may learn Ball Super’s return soon.

Shallot and Giblet certainly make for an interesting focus for a piece of Toyotarou art, and while the two aren’t likely to show up inDragon Ball Superany time soon, it must be great for long-time fans ofDragon Ball Legendsto finally see them in Toyotarou’s style. Hopefully,Dragon Ballfans will have plenty more Toyotarou artwork to look at in the near future.
