Dragon Ball FighterZhad a strong launch, setting new sales records for the franchise and earning strong reviews. In the weeks since, the game has struggled to hang on to its playerbase, with thePC version’s community dwindling by 80%. However, some of those lapsed players may soon have reason to return, as the first two DLC characters have been revealed.
According to the latest issue ofV-Jumpmagazine in Japan, the first two DLC characters forDragon Ball FighterZare Broly and Bardock. Unfortunately, no release date was announced, and while it’s not clear how much each fighter will cost as a standalone purchase, they are both part of the $34.99 season pass.
For those that aren’t terribly familiar with the franchise, Broly is the Legendary Super Saiyan who appeared in a few of theDragon Ball Zanime movies. Since he’s not from the manga, Broly isn’t really considered canon, but has remained one of the most popular villains in the franchise thanks to his remarkable strength and power.
Bardock, meanwhile, is Goku’s father, though he is not nearly as powerful as his offspring. As far as appearance goes, Bardock looks almost exactly like Goku, except for a scar on his cheek and the fact that he is usually seen wearing the same armor as Frieza’s soldiers.
The confirmation of Bardock and Broly coming toDragon Ball FighterZis consistent with adatamine leakthat predicted the two fighters would be part of the game’s post-launch DLC lineup. Considering this, it’s a safe bet that the future DLC characters will consist of Zamasu, Vegito, Cooler, and Ranger Android 17.
This could also mean that new game modes are on the way forDragon Ball FighterZas well. The datamining that leaked Bardock and Broly also mentioned two game modes called Z Union and Z League that have yet to be announced. Hopefully more information on those new game modes and other future DLC characters come sooner rather than later.
Dragon Ball FighterZis available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
