Summary
ControversialYouTubestreamer Dr Disrespect has made his first Twitter post since addressing his Twitch ban. Before becoming aYouTubestreamer, Dr Disrespect built his fanbase on Twitch. Dr Disrespect was one of the most popular streamers on the Amazon-owned streaming platform but was permanently banned in 2020.
When Twitch banned Dr Disrespect in 2020, it gave no reason for the decision. Four years later, an ex-Twitch employee claimed thatDr Disrespect was banned from Twitchfor using the streaming platform’s Whispers feature to talk to a minor. Dr Disrespect himself addressed the allegations in a lengthy tweet, in which he admitted to exchanging Twitch Whisper messages with a minor in 2017, which “sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate.” Disrespect insisted that there were no “real intentions” behind the messages and that “nothing illegal happened, no pictures were shared, no crimes were committed.”
Dr Disrespect is Back on Twitter
ATwitter user responded to Doc’s tweet by asking, “Is this you playing with a minor?” Disrespect responded by saying, “Good one she/her. The internet will never fix your real threat… depression.” Another Twitter user responded with a Dragon Ball Z image with text accusing Disrespect of being a pedophile, to which he responded, “Little brainwashed woke boy putting out Dragon Ball Z gfx with Kendrick Lamar lines… Got me big time.“ On the other hand, there are many Twitter users who are sending words of encouragement to Disrespect. The tweet has over 50,000 likes at the time of this writing, so Disrespect clearly still has many who support him.
If Dr Disrespect tries to come back to streaming, it’s unclear if and when that might happen. His tweet addressing the allegations said that he wasn’t going anywhere, and that, combined with his recent activity on social media, does seem to suggest that he may be planning an eventual streaming comeback. It will be interesting to see how the streaming community reacts if Disrespect is indeed planning on returning.
