With the coronavirus pandemic ravaging large swathes of the world, including the games industry, there’s a fairly good chance that players will have to settle with this year’s current big releases for some time, asvideo game delays in 2020are becoming more likely. However, that means players may get to deep dive into certain games, and possibly make some DIY projects based on them – just like oneDOOM Eternalfan did.
Reddit user Miscreations took it upon themselves to create their very own DoomBlade, and sharpen some of their fruit-killing skills on a watermelon. The result is really impressive, and while it isn’t as high tech as the onethe Doom Slayerrocks, it’s about as accurate as one could get without sci-fi technology.

As most expect, the blade expands and retracts, revealing what is apparently a very sharp blade. It’s reminiscent ofthe hidden blade fromAssassin’s Creed, though much less subtle. Miscreation’s video also shows the process of making it, which appears to involve a fair bit of welding and springs. The video also features a cuddly bunny, but don’t worry, it only receives love as an homage to Doom Guy’s own rabbit.
It’s always incredible to see what kind of crazy things fans can cook up. The DoomBlade is a central part ofDOOM Eternal, being featured in plenty of the game’sglory kills, and seeing it realized in the real world is impressive, to say the least. With the Doom Slayer now being one of gaming’s longest-running characters, there are certainly plenty of other aspects of the character that would be cool to see translated into the real world. Fanart isn’t uncommon, but props like this are.
Hopefully, Miscreations will work on some other video game creations next. WithFinal Fantasy 7Remakenow out in the wild, it would be incredible to see something like Cloud’s Buster sword find its way into the real world, even if it would take a team to actually lift. Of course, the buster sword may be better left to cosplayers, as it’s almost as cool as it is impractical.
DOOM Eternalis available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
