Detroit: BecomeHuman,as a result of being released on PC,has received a few mods. Many of these mods are model swaps, with one of these model swaps evoking the origins of Quantic Dream’s 2018 digital drama.

The mod, made by Nexus Mods user ‘InterestingMK’, swaps Kara’s model with her original model from the tech demo that inspiredDetroit: Become Human. While it is bizarre to see the semi-naked model in the harsh Michigan winter, it is good to see the mod acknowledge how the concept for the game has evolved over time.

Quantic Dream’s most recent interactive drama began life as a2012 tech demo for the PlayStation 3 titledKara, which depicted the eponymous android gaining sentience during her construction. After it received critical acclaim and strong reactions from critics and fans alike, it was adapted and expanded intoDetroit: Become Human.

Though there are very few mods available for Quantic Dream games, considering how tightly paced they are, the fact that they are available on PC means that a wider audience can appreciate these interactive dramas as they push the boundaries of presentation and story. Last year, the French developer received considerable investment from NetEase. This substantial investment from the Chinese online tech company allowed Quantic Dream to releaseBeyond: Two Souls, Detroit: Become Human, andHeavy Rainon PC and will lead to the Paris-based developer’s next-gen games to be multiplatform.

The upcoming ninth generation of consoles should allow Quantic Dream to surpass thealready-high standard set byDetroit: Become Humanand it will be exciting to see how it will use the greater power of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X to tell compelling narratives.

In the meantime,Detroit: Become Humanis available on PC and should be able to run on a good number of systems,as per its surprising low system requirements.
