Destinyhas begun its final weekend of Trials of Osiris, the game’s highly competitive, weekly PvP event. To commemorate the last time Trials can be played inDestiny, the map selection has been put on a rotation containing practically every map that Trials of Osiris has ever been played on.

This marks the largest map rotation for Trials of Osiris ever. Usually Trials takes place on one map for an entire weekend, but there have been weeks where matches have rotated between a couple different maps as well as somebigger themed rotations. But this week’s 18-map rotation is a (literally) huge send off to the mode.
The reason for Trials coming to an end?Destiny 2. Developer Bungie manually plans and activates Trials of Osiris each week (kind of like a mini live event), so with the developer preparing to fully shift all focus on the sequel coming out in just mere weeks, this weekend will be the last time the mode appears. A similar conclusion came to the game’s other PvP event, Iron Banner (which appears on a monthly basis), earlier this month.
Trials of Osiris first debuted in the House of Wolves expansion and breathed new life into the Crucible, giving players the most hardcore competitive experienceDestinyhas been able to offer. It became the endgame for PvP, the equivalent to PvE’s raids, and consequently resulted in very high-level and exclusive rewards forthose who were able to go Flawlessin the mode, winning nine matches without a single loss. Those players who go Flawless are allowed to go to a social space known as the Lighthouse that contains a chest giving specific Trials of Osiris loot.
The mode may have had its flaws, but it still had a devoted following of weekly regulars. It will be interesting to see how, if at all, Bungie tweaks the formula forDestiny 2.
The last Trials of Osiris will come to an end on Tuesday, August 15 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific.
