AlthoughThe Beginning After The Endhas been juggled among fans in the West about whether it’s a good adaptation, Japan’s numbers show that the anime is being warmly received on many platforms. Originally introduced as a manhwa, TBATE follows the story of King Grey, who is reincarnated as a child in a world completely unlike his own, leading him to start his life anew by studying magic, learning combat, and finding out the meaning of family.

The Beginning After The Endhas been met with a rough welcome ever since its first clip revealed how theanime was being adapted back at IGN’s Fan Festearlier this year. Many fans believed it was a sign of what was to come when the minute introduction showcased a short, unfinished fight and panning shots. Each episode drop has been met with mixed reactions, with parts of the fanbase believing that the animation didn’t live up to what they expected, and others hopeful that the story would carry it through.
