Unbeknownst to the JL, Lex Luthor has been enlisted into Amanda Waller’s Suicide Squad and is now part of her mission tocreate a squad member capable of taking on a Kaiju. Their first test subject is King Shark, and to say the least, their“Titanizing”of the rogue is more than successful.

King Shark Levels Up Into a Kaiju-Sized Monster in DC’s New Series

Cover I 1:100 Christian Duce Virgin Variant forJustice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong 2#1 (2025)

After getting the green light from Waller, Luthor and Enchantress initiate a process that the Superman villain refers to as“Titanizing,“essentiallythe act of turning King Shark into a Titan of epic proportions, much like creatures such asGodzilla and King Kong. This results in one of the most epic character redesigns in DC history, as King Shark becomes a Kaiju-worthy monster. He retains his shark-like appearance, though he grows monstrously large, with features that become nightmarish and truly befitting of a Kaiju. In addition to his massive size, the most noticeable changes include shark teeth protruding farther from his mouth, becoming even more needle-sharp, along with the growth of additional razor-sharp fins.

However, the changes aren’t just physical, but mental as well. King Shark becomes more beast-like, losing his ability to communicate and exhibiting limited brain activity. As Luthor explains, the Titanizing process had adverse effects on his synapse activity. As a result, Waller is unable to control him, and he becomes little more than a mindless monster. Still, what is a loss for Waller is a win for readers, as King Shark gets to face off against Godzilla, acting purely on animal instinct. This leads to an epic battle between the two, withGodzilla holding the advantage and ultimately winning when King Shark returns to his normal sizeand is forced to retreat.

Could Killer Croc Be DC’s Next Kaiju-Sized Villain?

Cover B Dan Mora Variant forJustice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong 2#1 (2025)

King Shark’s time as a Kaiju-sized monster may have been short-lived, but that doesn’t mean DC’s Titan-sized villain upgrades are over. In fact, readers are left with the strong impression that this is just the beginning. Not only is it likely that King Shark will undergo the Titanizing process again, but it also seems extremely likely that Killer Croc will be next, especially since he’s part of this iteration of the Suicide Squad. Given how epic King Shark’s Kaiju-inspired redesign was, there’s little doubt that Killer Croc’s transformation will be just as cool. If one thing is certain, thisJustice LeaguexMonsterVersecrossover is a must-read for fans who love a good monster transformation.
