It’s the Witcher’s time to shine
I last spoke aboutCyberpunk 2077over a year agoand noted that the game felt so far off, I couldn’t even visualize it despite the cool, seedy, world-building promotional images and trailer. I’d say the project was announced too early — and for us video game blog-reading obsessive types, it was — but talking about2077publicly surely helped attract new talent to CD Projekt RED.
Now thatThe Witcher 3: Wild Huntis released, can we shift our attention to the team’s next big role-playing game? If only it were so simple. Speaking toReuters, CD Projekt CEO Adam Kicinski said “We hope and we are certain thatCyberpunkhas even bigger commercial potential. It is too early to talk about it, though. This year, and the next one will be the years of theWitcher.”
Expansions, man — first a 10-hour romp in October, then a 20-hour adventure in Q1 2016.
Can’t blame them for focusing on the thing that will provide funding for future things, including2077. “We broke into the mainstream [withThe Witcher 3]. It is such a moment in our firm’s history that after some years people will look differently at CD Projekt before and after this release.”
