After decades frozen in ice in the English Channel since World War II,Steve Rogers finds himselfa man out of time yet again, awakening in a world vastly different from the one he knew. Through the majority of the issue, Steve mostly wears plain clothes or his classic WWII-era uniform, which is implied to be the very same uniform in which he was defrosted. His tactical fashion choice, however, changes when duty calls again, this time with a new iteration of the Howling Commandos.

The new stealth suit has black pants, a black utility belt, and sleek light blue gloves and a top. Most significantly, this uniform switches outCap’s classic white chest starfor a smaller black one, with subtle highlights of red etched around the star and the whole suit.Interestingly, the stealth suit completely lacks any hint of the color white. Perhaps this is a symbol of Steve’s lost innocence or his complicated relationship with what America means to him now in 2025.

This new stealth costume symbolizes Steve’s unavoidable confrontation with modernity, whether he desires it or not.It represents a necessary adaptation for a hero traditionally defined by his overt patriotism, now needing to operate in shades of gray (or black and blue). The very essence of Captain America, rooted in a bygone era, is being reshaped to meet contemporary threats, and the costume embodies this shift.

His iconic shield remains a constant, yet the new attire suggests a tactical evolution, hinting at missions that demand subtlety over overt displays of power. This evolution is further underscored by his collaboration with the new Howling Commandos. Working alongside this updated iteration of his legendary team during WWII, Steve Rogers is pushed to operate under unfamiliar circumstances.
