However, it now appears that the title is on its way to making its long-awaited solo debut.
Gaming rental service GameFly has suggested as much through a recent listing forCall of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered. The premise of playing the game sansInfinite Warfareis enticing in and of itself, but the posting also appears to indicate a potential PlayStation 4-first release this July. This would mean that the game will be made available on Sony’s home console a full 30 days before making the jump to other platforms.
As of this writing,Modern Warfare Remasteredis currently only accessible via theInfinite Warfaredisc, which is rather inconvenient for anyone hoping to keep the current add-on only title installed. Truthfully, having the game release as a standalone seemed like an inevitable outcome, and it’s sure to delight fans now that there’s an indication that it may be happening in the very near future. Of course, since Activision has yet to confirm such a move, consumers shouldn’t hold their breath just yet.
