There’s no doubt manyCoDfans are looking forward to the forthcoming Infinity Ward title,Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which is shaping up to be potentially the most controversial and visceral entry to date. This ranges fromModern Warfare’s child soldier missionto its controversy concerning the White Phosphorus killstreak, and the latest reveal also had controversy stamped over it, albeit of an altogether different nature.
A recent Amazon UK listing forCall of Duty: Modern Warfarerevealed some special bonus content exclusive to said listing, with Weapon Charms appearing on that list of content. Weapons Charms were initially introduced withInfinite Warfareand have also been added toCall of Duty: WWIIand evenBlack Ops 4. These are cosmetic accessories attached to the side of the gun that effectively do nothing, as they can’t even typically be seen too well.

Perhaps the biggest complaint against Weapon Charms is how they unnecessarily seem to fluff up microtransactions, as players who do elect to spend money are more likely to get a new Weapon Charm as opposed to something of more value. On the other hand, there are a few CoD fans who do seem excited to see customization returning and even asking for the return of sticks inCoD: Modern Warfare.
The specific charm in question appears to be that of a drone, and will come with the Amazon UK edition of that game. Notably, most ofModern Warfare’s pre-order bonuses and special editionscome with in-game content such as calling cards, Captain Price, and more, but this is the first version announced to come with Weapon Charms. It seems uncertain if others will be announced or if Weapon Charm additions will be added to some of the special editions.
Regardless, the inclusion of Weapon Charms doesn’t seem likely to hurt the overall hype train surrounding the title, and it’s worth noting that devs have talkedmicrotransactions and loot boxes inModern Warfarebefore. So, as long as Infinity Ward keeps its word, it doesn’t seem like something that will be a big deal.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfarereleases June 21, 2025, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
