For over a decade, Activision has consistently revealed the nextCall of Dutygame by the end of May. However,Call of Duty 2020has broken that tradition, with the game still yet to actually be shown off to the public. Activision has given no indication of when it may properly revealCall of Duty 2020, but a prominentCall of Dutyfranchise leaker has suggested that fans may still have quite awhile to wait before they will get to see the game.

Tom Henderson, who has made a number of accurateCall of Dutyleaksin the past, has suggested that theCall of Duty 2020reveal may not happen until August. Originally, many fans expected theCall of Duty 2020reveal to happen at the PS5 game event, only for those rumors to turn out to be inaccurate. Since then, fans have had no real idea of when to expect the highly anticipated reveal, but many assumed it would at least come at some point this month.

There could be a couple of reasons as to why Activision has held off on revealingCall of Duty 2020just yet. One possible reason is thatCall of Duty 2020has reportedly had a troubled development, with one industry insider labeling the game a “mess” in its current state. For the uninitiated,Call of Duty 2020was originally in development at Raven Software and Sledgehammer Games, with reports indicating that the two studios were having difficulties cooperating. This eventually led Treyarch to be put in charge as the lead studio of the new game, despite the fact that it had just recently launchedBlack Ops 4at the time. This gave the studio significantly less time to developCall of Duty 2020, which would go a long way in explaining the game’s supposed development woes.

Another reason could be that Activision just doesn’t want to take away from the momentum ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfareand the mega popularWarzonebattle royale. Then again,Warzoneis said to be a constant for futureCall of Dutygames, so that seems like an unlikely reason to hold off on theCall of Duty 2020reveal. In fact, rumors indicate thatWarzoneitself will be used to revealCall of Duty 2020through a special in-game event, so fans should keep an eye out.

UntilActivisionmakes the official reveal,Call of Dutyfans will just have to keep speculating about what the upcomingCall of Duty 2020will entail.

Call of Duty 2020is in development for unspecified platforms.
