Iron Man’s Upgrade Unlocks Bucky Barnes' Inner Darkness
Introduced in 1963, theCrimson Dynamo is Russia’s answer to Iron Man, boasting what’s traditionally presented as a stronger but less versatile suit. The Dynamo has long been an enemy of Iron Man, while also being a key member of the semi-heroic Winter Guard (now decidedlynon-heroic thanks to the leadership of the Red Widow.) Bucky is therefore taking on alotof firepower by stealing the armor, which he uses to take down Red Widow. However, when Doom’s herald Victorious arrives and Latverian rebel Vishte fashions his own mystically empowered suit, even the Winter Dynamo might not be enough.
Tony is currently wearing the Improvised Iron Man armor, which is infused with magical energy. During the comic, he detaches parts of his suit to empower the Winter Dynamo, overwhelming Bucky with energy. Surprisingly,the upgrade seemingly reactivates his Winter Soldier brainwashing, and Iron Man has to stop him executing Red Widow on the spot. It seems that something in the magic dormant in Tony’s suit is taking Bucky back to his days as a Soviet assassin, making the Winter Dynamo a potential threat to Tony and the Black Widow.
Winter Soldier’s cybernetic arm is powerful, but it doesn’t compare to the Crimson Dynamo armor, let alone once Iron Man has upgraded it. It’s fun for fans to see a new side of Bucky as a high-powered hero with his own Iron Man suit, however by reawakening his darkest impulses, the Winter Dynamo may have introduced as much corruption as it has firepower.
