A couple of weeks ago, Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford started teasingBorderlands 3’s existence on Twitter, leading many to speculate that the long awaited game would finally be announced at The Game Awards 2018. No announcement came, but since Pitchford’s teases, it seems some information on the game has leaked, including when it may be officially revealed.

YouTube channel The Know, citing a “credible source” close to the project, revealed some supposed details aboutBorderlands 3in a recent video. According to The Know’s source,Borderlands 3will be announced in the first or second quarter of 2019. So if The Know’s source is to be believed, it seems likely that aBorderlands 3announcement will come before or during E3 2019.

Of course, it’s possible that The Know’s source isn’t as credible as they believe. The source indicated to The Know’s hosts thatBorderlands 3teases could be part of The Game Awards 2018, but nothing like that came to pass. Considering this, fans should take the rest of the leakedBorderlands 3information with a grain of salt, though it’s also worth pointing out evidence that actually seems to corroborate some of the leaked information.

Not long after The Know’s video aboutBorderlands 3went live, supposed character art of the game leaked online. Theleaked character artforBorderlands 3detailed some of the classes that were discussed in The Know’s video, including a Soldier class character capable of summoning aTitanfall-like mech, in addition to a Beast Master character who can choose from one of three pets.

Now, it’s possible that this “leaked” character art was faked based on the information on theBorderlands 3character classestalked about in the video, but who’s to say at this point. Ultimately,Borderlandsfans will just have to wait for Gearbox Software to officially announce the game before they get too excited about any of the leaked information. Whether or not that happens in the first half of 2019 as The Know’s source claims remains to be seen, however.
