Baldur’s Gate 3launched for PC on August 3, with Mac, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S ports on their way. The turn-based RPG was a massive commercial success, rocketing to the top of Steam’s sales charts. The game is also a critical darling, withBaldur’s Gate 3being the seventh highest-rated game on Metacritic. Still, no game is perfect, andBaldur’s Gate 3isn’t without bugs to be fixed and balance issues needing adjusting.

Larian released the fourthBaldur’s Gate 3hotfix today, with the studio’s attention split between preventing softlocks, improving multiplayer, fixing scripting issues, and adjusting combat. The gameplay changes include a slight increase to Isobel’s HP.Isobel is a potential camp member inBaldur’s Gate 3, and the Half-Elf NPC plays an important role in the game’s second act, and her death in combat has the potential to derail a playthrough significantly. Giving her a few extra hit points should make that less likely, assuming the player isn’t also trying to kill her. Other gameplay changes are limited to bug fixes.
Meanwhile, the patch fixes a problem where characters disappear whenBaldur’s Gate 3players switch to split screenmode. The hotfix additionally improves the visibility of multiplayer servers on the GOG release. Also, the game now warns hosts when additional players join during character creation, and the host must approve drop-in players.
The hotfix also addresses several bugs that had the potential to softlock the player’s game.Baldur’s Gate 3companionsno longer risk staying asleep after a Long Rest and removed a bug where the portal might disappear if players Long Rest in the Astral Prism. Other averted softlocks include ensuring an important NPC stays where she should be and fixing a scripting error that prevents players from loading a save.
The hotfix also resolves multiple other scripting problems, such as the quest “Enemy of the Absolute,” permanently marking the player as a criminal, and a bug that prevents the player from talking to NPCs after the NPC changes locations. Players will also now have their resources properly restored at the end of Act 2, and the hotfix fixes issues related to having dead party members in the Astral Prism.
