Time and again, hopeful fans of the forthcoming Square Enix and Marvel team-up game, dubbedThe Avengers Project, have been disappointed. Rumors for news at E3 2018 circulated heavily, but alas, there was nothing new revealed. Hopeful fans clung to the fact that the Russo brothers were attending the Game Awards 2018 as a sign that an official reveal was coming, yet once again, there was no news aboutThe Avengers Project.

Nevertheless, the creative director behindThe Avengers Project, Shaun Escayg, recently took to Twitter to express his enthusiasm for the forthcoming game. While he didn’t say much, it’s worth mentioning that January 2019 will be two years sincethe announcement of theAvengers Project, and the developers have taken a “mum’s the word” approach to news for the title ever since.

From Escayg’s tweet, there are two standout factors. First, it mentions that the game itself is highly ambitious, potentially further hyping it for those who heavily desire its release. After all, withthe success of Sony’s exclusiveSpider-ManPS4 titleand the ever-growing popularity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there wouldn’t be a better time for AAA quality Marvel game likethe Avengers Project.

Secondly, there is the vague description of news coming “when the time is right.” But sadly, there is no real indication as to when that may be. It could come at any time at the discretion of the developer studio Crystal Dynamics. Maybe anAvengers Projectannouncement will come alongside the release ofAvengers: Endgame. Or maybe it’ll be E3 2019 before we hear anything.

At the end of the day, we simply know next-to-nothing more about the forthcomingAvengers Project(but we do know thatit is not anUltimate Alliancereboot). If Escayg’s tweet and the replies to it are any indications, however, then fans are in a treat with this one. While some may be disappointed with the long wait for news, others feel like the project will be well worth the wait to see theAvengers#reassemble.
