In fact, one anonymous millionaire is currently looking for help organizing the event, which would see 100 people fight on an island for a grand prize of £100,000.
Now, the stakes of this real-lifebattle royale gamewon’t be as high as some potential candidates are possibly presuming. The tournament won’t be using actual weapons, and players are not supposed to die - that is, unless the island turns out to be more dangerous than originally intended. Instead, each player will be given an airsoft gun, ammo, and touch-sensitive body armor that will determine when a contestant is hit and “dies”. The tournament would take place over the course of three days, during which players will have 12 hours of playtime each day followed by time to camp and rest.
There is still a lot that is unknown about the event. It’s currently unclear as to who the millionaire is, and why exactly they want this real-life,large scale battle royaleto take place. What’s more is that there’s no telling what kind of precautions would be taken to keep the island safe. Also, and perhaps most importantly, there’s no clear way to know at this point if contestants won’t actually be putting themselves into danger in the vein of Richard Connell’s short story, “The Most Dangerous Game”.
All of the details about this real-life battle royale will likely be answered as the event nears completion, but the competition could always lead to disaster. After all, many people will likely be pretty wary after the release of the two Fyre Festival documentaries that revealed how horrible mismanaged island extravaganzas can be.
